My first encounter with ARAKAWA GRIP was when I started my work in architecture and design. Their products are made with unparalleled expertise, featuring delicate yet adjustable products that withstand tens of kilograms of weight. ARAKAWA GRIP has made its way into many of the works I have unveiled to date, and the reliable and impeccable quality of their products and my design work are inseparable.
I was fortunate to be entrusted with the ARAKAWA GRIP 50th anniversary exhibition. Upon visiting their factory, a brass bar before processing caught my eye. It was the moment I was reminded that Arakawa products are made with fine alloys of metals. The exhibition "ubique" is an attempt to capture that impression. The Latin word "ubique" means "to be omnipresent" or "to be anywhere.
The theme represents the very presence and attitude of ARAKAWA GRIP. It also symbolizes the brand's philosophy that continues to permeate throughout the world. I remain fascinated by the fluidity and incompleteness of unstructured materials such as air, wind, light, and shadow, which always serve as the starting point for my creations. Arakawa remains compatible with these materials that embrace such intense, primordial, and sacred allure.
